Abdoulaye Babale went galvanize populations for a massive recruitment of potential voters. The Far North is one of the biggest electoral ponds in Cameroon.
During the 2013 elections, this region had registered nearly 960,000 voters, placing itself in the top tier nationally. According to the statements of Ali Hamidou, the regional delegate of Elections Cameroon (ELECAM) for the Far North, in 2015, the region registered 337,709 potential new voters, which lengthened the list at 1,050,000.
In reality, the potential is still there, but the prevailing security climate may cool the enthusiasm of those involved in the process of registration on the electoral lists. The working visit of Abdoulaye Babale in Maroua on Monday, January 25, 2016 was precisely to invite each of the stakeholders in the process of registration on the electoral roll to play their part. Admittedly, the figure of 4200 new students that registered in the first three weeks of January is flattering, but Abdoulaye Babale estimated that this figure could be even higher.
The Dg ELECAM has proposed a special strategy to substantially increase the number of those registered on electoral lists; it is the door-to-door.
According to an indiscretion collected at the regional delegation of ELECAM for the Far North, the Special campaign enrollments organized at a place called "Carrefour Djarma" in Maroua in favour of the working visit of ELECAM DG on 25 January was a great success.
