After the Afrobasket Men and Nigeria coronation last month in Tunisia, this time is the Afrobasket Women which begun in Cameroon yesterday.
12 teams in the continent will be seeking to overthrow reigning champs, Angola in this year’s tourney.
The Palancas Negras will obviously be up to defend their title, as well as the recent winners of the female basketball tournament at the All African Games 2015, Mali. Nigeria, Egypt, Gabon, Senegal and the host country, Cameroon will follow.
The Afrobasket tourney is also used as the qualifier for the Rio Games in 2016. Only the winner will qualify directly, the other two teams on the podium will go through to the Olympic tournament organized by FIBA next year. The tournament ends on October 3.

Group A: Cameroon, Mozambique, Mali, Uganda, South Africa and Gabon.
Group B: Senegal, Angola, Nigeria, Egypt, Algeria and Guinea.
