Eric Mbang, owner of a small bar, in Bertoua, the regional capital of the East, has been seriously beaten by the deputy Divisional Officer, DO of that city, sources disclosed.
Local media reported the fact that, on January 1, 2016, the Divisional Officer, the special commissioner and his deputy, arrived at Eric Mbang drinking spot and wondered why the outside is not lightened.
The administrative officer ordered the bar to be closed. The DO and his entourage continued their tour to other bars. The special commissioner then asked the gentleman to just put a clear bulb on the outside and stay open.
At around 23h- 00h on January 1, Eric takes time to find a light bulb. Failing to get one, he sent someone to take the one at home. Returning, the DO and his entourage discovered that the bar was still opened after he has has given orders that it should be closed.
At this moment, the Assistant DO removed the Eric Mbang's cap, threw it on the ground. After a blow from the DO, Mbang fell down almost dead.
The bar owner will copiously be beaten by the deputy DO who will subsequently ordered a police officer to keep him in cell that night.
With a swollen face and without medical care, he was kept at the police station. Assaulted without ever having been heard, he was released the following day.
Thanks to the intervention of some citizens, he met a doctor who establishes him a 60-day disability certificate. The case has been sent to court.
