Nearly 9,347 Central Africans registered as voters in the far north of Cameroon have come out this Sunday, December 13, 2015, to meet their civic duty on the referendum on the draft constitutional reform in CAR.
One had to be armed with patience to perform this duty for the election which was originally scheduled at 8 am finally started around 4 pm at the CAR Consulate in Garoua.
According to the CAR Consul in Garoua, H.E Placide Nzengue, voting was really delayed because the material was not sent in time from Douala to the Far North and East.
"I went to Ngaoundere that Sunday morning to collect ballots and voter cards that were sent on the eve from Douala. We have lagged certainly, but the Prime Minister, Head of Government, ordered us to continue voting until Monday if ever there are citizens who want to cast their votes," said the Consul.
According to HE Placide Nzengue, measures will be taken on December 27, 2015, for the presidential election when the vote takes place and based on the prescribed rules.
The constitutional referendum held in the Central African Republic on Sunday will close the subsequent transition to the third Central Civil War. First scheduled October 4, 2015, it was finally held this December 13, 2015.
The referendum is the proclamation of a 6th republic, by a change of constitution that includes, notably, a limit of two presidential terms, the formation of a high court of justice and the affirmation of a fight against corruption.
