Ex-employees of state corporations have not had their premiums paid for years and some Cameroonians citizens have raised their concerns about the issue.

Most of these retired individuals, who live on these premiums, stated that life has become difficult for them.

Below were some of the displeasure expressed by Cameroonian citizens on the situation:

"Paul Biya alone has the solution": Benoit Oloume Mbili, financial engineer

Cameroon is a sum of problems without solutions. Since 2011, the former employees of the liquidated 48 Crown corporations have not been paid their premiums. President Paul Biya alone has the solution to this problem.

He should order the Minister of Finance for the immediate release of funds to be used immediately to pay such premiums. There is a privileged caste; it is distressing to those retirees. But I believe there is justice on earth. We must remember that those who repress the old will also be treated the same way when it is their turn. He who kills by the sword dies by the sword.

"Ashamed of government"- Elise Ngomo

These are failures of government: these people should not even be treated like this for their money. They should not suffer for it because they have worked for this money. Therefore, their demands have to be met.

It is shameful for the government. They want nothing to do with the authorities, if not for what is due them. Things like that should not happen. Among these people, there are those who die from diseases.

"They deserve respect"- Kevin Assang, banking analyst

I think it's pretty sad that in a country like Cameroon which wants to emerge in 2035, we still discriminate against certain corporations as compared to others.

The soldiers demonstrated, they threatened and we had to pay them. The ex-employees of former state companies have also served Cameroon in their way. The elderly deserve respect, in my opinion. Give them their money.

"These people should be listened to": Steven Gilles Mekoulou, student

It's a shame that the former employees of state companies have not yet been compensated for all these years. Out of respect, these elderly should be listened to.

It has gone on for years and the death of another should not be a cause for action. The authorities take responsibility and act quickly, as they do for other corporations.
