Douala, the economic capital of Cameroon, hosts since Monday, October 26, 2015, the summit of the International Federation for the Safety of Electricity Users (Fisuel).

The meeting that will be held for four days brings together experts from several countries of the world. They will deliberate "on the diagnosis and the securing of electrical installations of residential buildings," informs La Nouvelle Expression of 28 October 2015.

According to the newspaper, "In Cameroon, 85% of registered fires are of electrical origin. With socio-economic consequences valued at billions of FCFA, these fires are precisely the result of non-compliant with electrical installations or the use of electrical equipment of poor quality." This is the consequence of no control in electrical installations by the competent services.

But, says the paper, "Law No. 2011/022 of 14 December 2011 governing the electricity sector, in Article 76, it establishes the control of these facilities." The expert meeting aims to reverse the curve.

"This meeting in Douala is ahead of the general meeting of Fisuel scheduled in Seoul on November 2, 2015, however, it seeks to challenge the conformity of domestic electrical installations and materials before use," says La Nouvelle Expression.
