End of years always see Cameroonians in the Diaspora returning during this period to Cameroon.
Several reasons are behind these high arrivals in color; Funeral, holiday, family celebration, but also marriages are common during this period.
Cameroon Tribune on Friday, December 18, 2015, reported on one young lady called Ornelia Siewe's case. She is a pharmacist near Dreux which is 2 hours from Paris. Ornelia arrived in the country for her wedding ceremony.
"We have guests from Europe and elsewhere. So we had to position the event at a date that suits almost everyone. And it is generally known that the Christmas period is akin to little vacation. This is why we chose to get married in December," said the bride.
Like her, Eve Anaba also came down to tie the knot. Based in Lyon in France for 5 years, the young Cameroonian came to get married, the newspaper said. "At his parents' home in the Ngousso neighborhood, the atmosphere was festive. The dowry was done on Saturday and before the town hall and the church," the newspaper said.
As the above-mentioned cases, many Cameroonians living abroad have returned or are about to get married. With multiple marriages, funerals and other celebrations, the New Year will be colourful in the capital and elsewhere.
