Far North: Raid in Mokong

The populations of the district of Mokolo, Mayo Tsanaga in the department, deliberated their resentment against the authorities after gunmen attacked Mokong village, which is 30 kilometers from Mokolo.

The attacked happened last Friday, around midnight.

The gunmen arrived at the health center of the village by a 4x4 pickup, according to some eyewitnesses.

Upon arrival, they forced the door opened but found nothing in the reception room. They were then directed to the house of Angela Asta, the head of the center. She was forced to follow them to open the office in which there was a safe. The lady followed them without any resistance.

Once in front of the safe, she could not open it and the gunmen threatened their captive. The latter, frightened by their aggressiveness and the violence showed feared for her life.

Besides, they promised her death. Angela Asta informed them that only the cashier had the keys to the safe. She then showed them where the cashier lived and they went looking for her.

All the while, a curious villager followed them slowly. In as much as he was fascinated by the bandits' actions, the bandits noticed that they were being followed by someone.

The bandits got hold of him, beat him, and tied him up. They then opened the trunk of his car and stole FCFA 750,000. After, headed to the eye clinic. There, they broke and stole more than FCFA 300.000.

Not satisfied with their booty, they attacked a bar in front of the two institutions. The shopkeeper was sleeping behind the counter. They woke him and asked him for cash. The shopkeeper who was tensed quickly gave them only 25,000 FCFA. Unfortunately, the small amount pushed the hoodlums to attack the merchant.
