The former Minister for Secondary Education died early this morning, February 5, 2016, at the Yaounde General Hospital.

Bapes Bapes, who has spent over a decade at the head of this ministry, was replaced during the ministerial reorganization on October 2, 2015. He was under prosecution by the Operation Sparrow-hawk.

Admitted and bedridden in a hospital in the capital since his health prevented him from going to the Special Criminal Court, to defend himself on charges of embezzlement of FCFA 550 million.
