The former Bengbis municipal cashier, Patrick Elele, has been in police custody since Monday, December 7, 2015, for mismanagement of FCFA 3,000,000.
The money is the fund raised for the National Participatory Development Programme (PNDP) for the Meyomessi council in Dja and Lobo division.
According to a source close to the investigation, the respondent, having disbursed the money about two months ago, instead took the road to Yaounde instead of Meyomessi, the locality where the funds were intended.
After spending some time in Yaoundé and feeling like a rat hunt, he decided to flee the country through the Kye-Ossi town to Gabon. He had not reckoned on the determination of police investigators.
He was stopped by the police while he was preparing to cross the border between Cameroon and Gabon.
On Thursday, December 10, 2015, the head of the coordination unit of the National Programme for South participatory development went to the regional division of the judicial police to file a complaint against the respondent.
He was immediately interrogated by an investigator. At the regional division of the Southern Judicial Police, arrangements were immediately made to transfer the respondent to Ebolowa on Friday, December 11, 2015.
