The information was trending on social media over a week now. John Fru Ndi, National Chairman of the Social Democratic Front (SDF) was admitted to a surgery and hospitalized at the Catholic Hospital Shisong of Kumbo.
Reports that SDF National Chairman, John Fru Ndi, was hospitalised, started trending on Tuesday, September 20, 2016, when a Cameroonian blogger based in Belgium, citing a "reliable source" in Kumbo, published a story that the chairman of the main opposition party was not feeling well. The blogger noted that John Fru Ndi underwent a surgery by a special team of Spanish doctors.
But when the Guardian Post newspaper contacted Nkelemo Denis, SDF Assistant Secretary in charge of communication, it dismissed the fact that the health of John Fru Ndi was deteriorating. Asked if the president was released from the hospital, the Deputy Secretary of the party said, "The President is fine and is not in a hospital”.
According to the spokesman of the party noted that information about the health of John Fru Ndi were unfounded. He advised journalists to be careful with whom they come in contact, adding that some party members are "clowns and have bad intentions."
However, another member of the SDF, an MP close to President said the president was sick and hospitalized.
In its publication of Thursday, September 22, 2016, The Guardian Post indicated that John Fru Ndi is the leader head of the party since it was founded in 1990.
Contacted by phone, the Chairman of the SDF told a Bamenda-based journalist that he “is fine”.
