The troops of the Cameroonian army in the war front spent an unforgettable New Year’s Eve in the company of Defense Minister, Joseph Beti Assomo.

Joseph Assomo visited the locality of Kidji-Matari, in the district of Kolofata in Mayo-Sava division.

He spent the night of December 31, 2015, breaking January 1, 2016, with the soldiers.

According to Cameroon Tribune on Monday, January 4, 2016, the MINDEF arrived very late at the Nigerian border on December 31, 2015, in the company of the governor of the Far North region Midjiyawa Bakary and also the chief of armed Staff, General René Claude Meka, other chiefs of Staff assimilated and other general officers.

According to the newspaper, the Mindef wanted to be reassuring and very casual. He "was even surprised to be served a drink," we are told. For the Minister of Defence, the morale of the men in front is good and thanks to that, "Boko Haram is doomed to certain death".

"We were in Kolofata to strengthen and boost the morale of the troops and the people. I was sent by the President of the Republic, army chief, to ask the troops and the people to hold on, and to strengthen the army-nation link," noted Joseph Beti Assomo.

Despite the harsh weather conditions, Mindef found good troop morale. He left the soldiers not without adding that the Head of State will make what is available to them, within his capabilities, to enable them to carry out their fight against terrorism
