The attack, which took place at the border with Nigeria occured on Thursday night.
More than 20 suspected Boko Haram members arrived at the town aboard motorcycles and starting firing in the air while chanting “Allah akbar.” They ransacked everything on their way. Frightened, the inhabitants fled. Alerted by the members of the Vigilance Committee, the army quickly fought back.
No death has been recorded for now. However, a substantial number of properties were damaged. Moreover, the Boko Haram fighters are suspected to have settled in Mourdas (Halifa Hile district), reported security sources and eyewitnesses.
The upsurge in attacks by Boko Haram in Cameroon comes as the commander of the first sector of the Joint Multinational Force (MIF), based in Mora was installed.
His installation was decided by the member countries of the Commission for the Lake Chad Basin and Benin (LCBC), in office.
The FMM, created to combat the sect, is awaiting a resolution of the mandate of the United Nations (UN), to enter into action.
