Kousseri: 4 students drown in Logone

Four students of the vocational school in Kousseri in Logone and Chari Division, on February 20 drowned in river Logone. The tragedy that claimed the lives of two girls, Maroufa Mahamat Bello, Kaka Harouna and two boys Alhaji Dairou Alioum and Mahamat Adoum Mahama, has plunged the whole city into consternation.

At LycéeTechnique this Saturday, after the end of remedial classes, a group of Kousseri Technical High School students went around 10 am, along the River Logone to bath.

After several dives, four of them do not come to the surface. Panicked and helpless against the power of the water, their comrades will alert residents.

They, however, failed to rescue the four students.
Overwhelmed, residents appeal to firefighters who swerve quickly on the scene. Rescuers, aided by fishermen, managed to get the inert body of water, around 2 pm.

This was done under the gaze of inconsolable families of the young students who drowned and their comrades in tears. To the memory of the disappeared, whose ages ranged between 12 and 15 years, the headmaster of the technical school in Kousseri, Avilat Amadou said the day of Monday, February 22, 2016, is a day of mourning in his establishment.

All teachers and administrative staff of the school visited the families of the young students snatched from life to present their condolences.
