Equatorial Guinea has again unilaterally closed its land border with Cameroon but has given no official explanation.
Cameroonians and goods are have officially not been allowed to cross the land border between the two neighbouring countries, for a week.
According to some service authorities in Kye-Ossi City, unilateral closure of the land frontier between Cameroon and Equatorial Guinea is due to "internal problems in the neighbouring country."
This opinion is not shared by the Kyé-Ossi traders’ union president. According to the trader, "it is the usual whims of the authorities of Equatorial Guinea. That's how they are. For nothing, they close the border unilaterally, we are already used to it."
The trader is nevertheless concerned that the Guinean authorities have decided to close the border in this period of Christmas and New years.
It is a peak period for the economic operators of the two neighbouring countries.
This, according to the president of the syndicate of traders in Kyé-Ossi, is already a blow to their business operations and even for the local economy.
