The partial launch of the hydraulic project of Lom Pangar, which is one of the most important projects for development, took place Thursday in the East of the country.
It was to regulate the flow which will provide 3 billion m3 of water power to the central terminal in Song Loulou and Edéa in the Littoral region, according to official sources.
According to Electricity Development Corporation (Edc), the contracting authority, the Lom Pangar dam will have a storage capacity of 6 billion m3 of water by 2016 with an increase of 70 megawatts of electricity and on an area of 540 km2 and 45 metres high.
The Lom Pangar reservoir will increase the flow regulated by the Sanaga River at more than 1000 m/s, indicated officials.
The total cost of the Lom Pangar project is estimated at 238 billion FCFA. It is jointly funded by the State of Cameroon and five donors. The World Bank (WB), the French Development Agency (AFD), the African Development Bank (ADB), the Bank for the Development of Central Africa States (BDEAC), and the European investment Bank (EIB)
