Seven BBR (Armoured Reconnaissance Battalion) soldiers, who participated in the September 9 demonstration for the reclamation of their premiums, were summoned to the division of military security in Yaoundé (Semil), security sources informed.

The authorities seemed to have decided to take reprisals against all Cameroonian military who decided to partake in the protests of unpaid premiums of soldiers engaged in peacekeeping in Central Africa operations.

According to a soldier who spoke to Koaci, summoned soldiers are facing extortion at Semil. “Those who are responsible for conducting investigations have required large sums of money before they set us free. They demanded the sum of 300 000 FCFA from us to avoid fallout,” said a soldier who contacted the editorial department of Koaci under anonymity.

The case was entrusted to the military by the head of state security and the Minister delegate at the Presidency of the Republic, in charge of Defense (Mindef). The Ex-Minusca from CAR gave October 12 as deadline for their rights to be returned.

“The president of the Republic, returned to Cameroon on September 12, 2015 and we are still awaiting the outcome of payment of our premiums for the mission of the United Nations (MINUSCA). If this payment is not executed until October 12, 2015, we will not march again, but we will make ourselves heard in any other ways that will be surprising to many. It's big money," warned the soldiers.

At the moment, protesters have been suspended from permissions to end the mission, by the Mindef.
