The insecurity 'climate' that reigns in the Far North Region has made some parents reluctant to send their children to school.
This situation is observed more acutely on the transverse, ranging from Fotokol to Mogodé where, for months, the populations suffer attacks from the terrorist sect Boko Haram and causing farmers to abandon their fields.
Faced with this situation which has a negative impact on the schooling of children, OLAM, an agribusiness company based in Singapore in Southeast Asia, has donated some food items to support the students and parents of the areas affected by insecurity and famine.
These products conveyed by Joseph Manna, the regional director of this company consisted of 1 600 bags of rice (25 kg), 1 200 bags flour (25 kg), 180 bags of milk powder (25 kg) and 600 cartons of seasoning cubes; all worth a little more than 50 million FCFA.
The Governor presented the items to Joël Mahamat and Mahamat Mahama, regional delegate of Minedub and regional delegate of the Minesec to the Far North respectively. For a month, these products will be distributed free to students in 50 schools at insecure areas.
It aims to encourage students to be more assiduous and a call on the parents to send their children to school.
The Governor of the North Region praised this gesture from OLAM company which, he stated, is in line with the objectives of the government which aims to provide education for all children.
