The president of the Republic has sacked the Director Generals of Cename and the Lanacome on Thursday night.
The head of State sacked Oussoumanou Taoussé, Pharmacist and Director General of the National Centre for the supply of Medicines and Consumable Medical Essentials (Cename), and Louis Raoul Massing Bias, CEO of the National Laboratory for Quality Control of Medicinal Products and Expertise (Lanacome), the national pharmaceutical Office of Cameroon. The two structures are under the supervision of the Ministry of Health (MOH).
Oussoumanou Taousse, 55, after 17 years in his position, was replaced by Joseph Vaillam. While Louis Raoul Massing Bias, left his post and was replaced by Rose Ngono Mballa, a Pharmacist and African Pharmaco-Therapeutic teacher at the Faculty of Medicine and Biomedical Sciences at the University of Yaoundé I.
The two officials dismissed, were regularly accused by the local press of supplying various fake drugs and maintained execrable relations with both André Mama Fouda (MOH) and their respective staff.
Their individual collaborators complained of their clan and family management. The competent services of the Republic had forwarded incriminating files, concerning the two managers, to the president of the Republic, according to sources.
The watchdog of public health in Cameroon (MOH), sought the intervention of the civil cabinet of the Presidency of the Republic, so as to explain the folder to the head of State. A promise was given to him that the file was being reviewed by the head of State.
Since his return on September 12, 2015, Paul Biya signed a dozen decrees. Proof, that he has made his political comeback and that other heads who have contentious files on his table, may also be victims.
