The Minister of communication has ordered the Acting Chairman of the National Communication Council to lift the sanction which was imposed on Afrique Media.
Issa Tchiroma, in a correspondence signed on October 2, 2015, addressed it to the Director of Publication.
Several viewers of the Pan-African channel, Afrique Media, could in the next few days follow programs on the chain.
After the lifting of the sanction, the Minister of communication addressed the publicist of Afrique Media to respect the rules of ethics in journalism. "I have the honour to draw your attention, the scrupulous respect of journalism ethics and the ethical rules, and to be borne by the media which you preside or direct as well as those who operate there as professionals", wrote the Minister.
From now on, Issa Tchiroma would want that Afrique Media carefully observed this "revered principle based on what is broadcasted on air” for its audience, The Minister reminded the proponent of the channel that the heads of state and government are protected by Cameroonian law against "any contempt against them”.
The Minister of Communication ended his correspondence by warning the channel on any future blunders. "I would, therefore, warn you against all recidivism to transgress these different obligations once more; failure to which you will surely answer to in the most demanding forms, and with consequences appropriate to the seriousness of the faults you commit,” warned Issa Tchiroma.
Afrique Media was sanctioned by a decision from the National Communication Council on June 4, 2015, for non-compliance with rules of ethics in journalism. In August 2015, the channel was sealed in Yaoundé and Douala despite the resistance of the promoter and his fans. The channel had transferred its device from Douala and Yaoundé to Ndjamena from where it broadcasts currently.
