The reaction of the vice president of the National Communication Council, Peter Essoka was quick after the release of the directive by the Minister of Communication, Issa Tchiroma Bakary.
In a letter dated October 2, 2015, the Mincom had instructed the Vice-President of CNC, to lift the temporary suspension measure taken against the TV station.
In a development played on the airwaves of the national radio Sunday, October 11, 2015 and Monday, October 12, 2015, the Board Vice-Chairperson recalled that "despite the measures taken by the competent administrative authorities, Afrique Media has never ceased to broadcast in the whole territory, defying the decision of the Cnc which is not only the closing of its offices, but to actually suspend broadcasting for a period of one month."
The National Communication Council cites as evidence the statement posted on the facebook page of the Pan African television. A communiqué, the leaders of the media organisation declared that "Afrique Media has never stopped for a single minute."
Consequently, "the vice president and members of Cnc reiterated to the attention of the public that the penalty of temporary suspension of Afrique Media remains in force until its full and effective implementation unless other measures which only the Cnc has the ability to make," says the Council.
The standoff between the Minister of Communications and the National Communication Council therefore continues. It is far from a perfect understanding displayed by both parties during the suspension of Afrique Media last few months.
