Three alleged visa counterfeiters have fallen into the grips of the elements of the Regional Division of the Judicial Police in Centre (Drpj).
Yesterday, the three men were brought before the public prosecutor at the Court of First Instance of Yaoundé Administrative Centre to be persecuted on theft and forgery.
According to information gathered yesterday at the Drpj, the alleged perpetrators had a fake visa network. It all started on November 2 when one of the respondents had visited the Embassy of the United States with his passport.
Authorities at the United States Embassy found out that the visa held by one Sieur Nganou was fake. The latter was immediately arrested and taken to the Drpj for investigation.
Upon interrogation, Sieur Nganou disclosed to the investigators that he was part of a network specialized in the issuance of fake visas and that the leader of this network was in Douala.
A team of policemen were dispatched to the Drpj in Douala. Kwimo, as he was later known, was arrested through an ambush by the police. He was caught in the possession of 1,600 of several governments templates, hundreds of false birth certificates, false auto thumbnails and fake stamps worth FCFA 50.000F.
The police later arrested another accomplice in Yaounde, known as Kandem.
