Commune de Yabassi Commune de Yabassi

The first buildings of the Yabassi Agricultural College, which covers just over 80 hectares at Nkam Yabassi, is gradually taking shape.

Referred to as an architectural gem, the project is the fruit of a China-Cameroon cooperation.

The project includes a homogeneous whole composed of an administrative block, two teaching blocks, a multipurpose room, product processing workshops, dormitories for girls and boys, classrooms, a sports complex and housing penalty payments for teachers.

Last Friday, the Minister of Secondary Education, Jean-Ernest Ngalle Bibehe, went to assess the progress of the work which started about a year ago. On the site, MINESEC went around each building, spoke to the technicians at work, etc. He then held the 3rd session of the steering committee of this project valued at FCFA 8.5 billion.

From this meeting, it appeared that work is progressing quite well. The problems noted were infrastructural order. The path between Bonépoupa and Yabassi, nearly 60km, is a real obstacle course.

Other problems: water procurement difficulties and electricity, no internet and these termed as the real obstacles to the progress of work. Nevertheless, both sides are committed to moving forward to a delivery site before June 2016.

According to MINESEC, other regions of Cameroon will benefit from the same scale projects. And the Ministry option was reaffirmed for the professionalization and optimization of the training.

"The Government of the Republic inquired about the limits that had technical schools, which is why he decided to create craft schools", said MINESEC Ngalle Bibehe, before continuing: "It is a prelude to second generation agriculture, initiated by the President of the Republic and it is necessary to develop highly skilled human resources to face the challenges ahead."
