The scarcity of fuel has been experienced at some filling stations in Yaoundé for some time.
However, there was delivery of both Super (fuel) and diesel at some filling stations in Yaoundé on Monday evening.
"But it was in small quantities. We will soon fall back into the shortage of fuel, perhaps even tomorrow (today),” lamented the Manager of a Total station. Just like other points of supply in the capital city, he ensured that "for more than a week, there has not been any delivery and the reserves of Super were emptied over the weekend.”
As a result, some sellers experienced a shortage yesterday. “There was a long queue of cars, expecting fuel. Some were dried down, by dint of making tour of stations,” reported a gas station attendant at Tradex.
On the causes of this situation, a Manager explained: “It is generally so. When the end of the year is approaching, scarcity occurs for various reasons. Except that this time, it starts a bit too early,” said our source. Across the city, a gas station attendant believed that there is a problem at sea.
“The fuel truck driver who supplied us explained that the supplying company is in full maintenance of some equipment. And that explains the shortage that has gone on for weeks. However, it was verified that the shortage is not a general issue.
At MRS stations, for example, they have inflated revenue in a single day, “because of the lack of foresight of others,” thought one of the managers. At the Cameroonian Society of Petroleum Deposits of Cameroon (SCDP), we were told that they are surprised by this "supposed shortage,” since there are reserves: 13 million litres of super and 22 million of diesel.
