Antoine Bell challenged by his own supporters

In order to conquer the presidency of the Cameroon Football Federation (FECAFOOT), Joseph Antoine Bell required to be sponsored by at least eight delegates in the next general elective meeting scheduled on September 28, 2015.

Just like the November 2014 elections canceled at the last minute, the former goalkeeper of the Indomitable Lions will not have it easy. Yet he had the opportunity to avoid this strain by snatching a delegate ticket for the election of the President of the Regional Football League held on Monday, September 14, 2015.

The ego problems within Littoral Maison mère, the "political" family to which he belongs, have not allowed him to seize this opportunity.

After the election of the list led by Pierre Batamack, the one retained in the Littoral by 24 votes out of 40 (14 against and 2 abstentions), the battle for the election of delegates to represent the region at the general meeting of the Federation would be more difficult.

The Pierre Batamack camp elected candidate was obviously prepared to concede a delegate seat to Joseph Antoine Bell and his company of four. The negotiations which lasted several hours did not have a major outcome. Littoral Maison Mère was not only asking for more but not accepting the people nominated.

This led to a voting process in order to nominate the delegates. The majority in the hall were the candidates of Le Mutuelle, Batamack (39 votes out of 40); Roger Kamdem (26 votes), Maitre Nsangou (26 votes) and David Mayebi (23 votes) won everything, leaving Joseph Antoine Bell (16 votes), Eugène Ekéké (15 votes) and Daniel Mongue Nyamsi (12 votes).

"I was for the Littoral Region in general. Unfortunately, the egos have dominated my will. Both sides wanted to maintain their candidatures. I even threatened to resign and they all told me I should not resign in view of my work and what I do for soccer,” Joseph Pierre Batamack lamented at the end of the work.

Joseph Antoine Bell was not discouraged, however. "The single list approved by the Standardization Committee won. Obviously, as for me, I remain a candidate. As a reminder, in November 2014, I was a candidate under the same conditions, so I stay in the same conditions," he said.

The former goalkeeper of Olympique Marseille will have two weeks to convince the delegates to support his candidacy.
