The administrative staff of the Stade Ahmadou Ahidjo have been requested to evacuate and find a new office.

"We'll break everything," said a source at the Ministry of Sports and Physical Education (MINSEP). Since the day after the final of the Cup of Cameroon dispute on December 22, 2014, the stadium built in early 1970 has been secured for the work.

Bulldozers have already struck a good part of the athletics track and even the playground.

Besides the lawn and the handrail to be completely redone, we announced a new cover at the rostrum as well as pylons for meetings at night. The changing rooms will be completely rehabilitated and in the stands, seats will be installed.

The program also includes the construction of an infirmary, sanitary facilities and conference rooms. The Yaounde Omnisport Stadium capacity will be modernized and will have more than 40 000.

The work will cost FCFA 26 billion, sources informed. The Mfandena Stadium will be rehabilitated alongside the 1 and 2 Annexes which will soon have natural grass and a podium each.

The Minister of Sports and Physical Education ordered the acceleration of work. The deadline set in June 2016 for the delivery of work was considered unrealistic by the masters of works who proposed to complete the work in August of the same year. Bidoung Mkpatt proposed that work should be done day and night.

Thus, when a mission from the Confederation of African Football (CAF) conduct its next inspection in February 2016, the site would have evolved enough.

The African Women Championship 2016 will be played from November 19 to 3 December 2016. This infrastructure will also be used for the male AFCON 2019.
