Brigitte Mebande has joined Celine Eko, Robert Penne and Joseph Antoine Bell as ineligible FECAFOOT presidential candidates.
According to the Standards Committee, Brigitte Mebande produced a list of 17 names, instead of 18 as stipulated by Article 35 paragraph 1 of the Articles of FECAFOOT.
In addition, the Standards Committee has decided to exclude Jules Frédéric Nyongha, who withdrew from the race for the Fecafoot presidency, from the list.
And if the member has supplied part for the deposit of more than FCFA two million (2,000,000) required, it was considered his or her file was incomplete. This was especially after the withdrawal of Jules Frédéric Nyongha.
Moreover, Brigitte Mebande was unable to provide eight (08) required sponsorship letters. In her list which had only 15 names after the cuts, only four (04) have produced their criminal record.
The other members of the list "have not produced any of the required documents" such as criminal record, photocopy of National Identity Card and affidavit stating that the candidate is not owing money or value towards FECAFOOT. Given all these factors, the Electoral Commission ruled that "it is, therefore, appropriate to declare her candidacy ineligible."
