FECAFOOT Elections: Omam Biyick tips Tombi A Roko to win

François Omam Biyick has been on the Cameroonian media scene for several years and this time around, he has tipped Tombi A Roko as the winner of FECAFOOT president.

He was the assistant coach of the Indomitable Lions between 2010 and 2011 and left the country for neighbouring Gabon.

From that side, he has been the head coach (since 2013) of US Bitam, the elite club that finished 6th in the Gabonese championship. The exile of the former striker of Châteauroux does not prevent him from following the news of his country.

This is the news that the former Indomitable Lion talked about in the interview he gave to Le Messenger on September 22, 2015. On the burning issue of the hour on the electoral process in FECAFOOT, Omam Biyick bluntly stated that the current SG, put on leave, is the favourite. "There are several candidates. A reading of the facts, Tombi A Roko has more chances to win,” he said.

Tombi, already seen by many as the potential candidate for the post at the helm of national football body, Omam believes that he "will gather all the forces necessary for the continuation of work that has been done so far," he said adding that from his point of view much has been done by the team of Iya Mohammed. "Those who do not share that opinion must work to replace them within four years," Omam Biyick said.

Besides FECAFOOT, former Cameroonian international gives his opinion on the new generation of the Indomitable Lions. "One of the mistakes that the public did was to compare generations. François Omam Biyick was not Roger Milla; Tchapmi was not Omam; Mboma was not Tchapmi, Eto'o was not Mboma; Aboubakar is not Eto'o ... We must stop frustrating players and treating them as incapable simply because we look in the mirror,” said the only scorer of the opening match of the 1990 World Cup between Argentina and Cameroon.

Speaking specifically of Jean Armel Kana Biyick case, his nephew who had decided to retire from the national team after his non-selection for the 2014 World Cup, Omam understands that the Toulouse player will play with the new Lions “He should reverse his decision and come back into the Indomitable Lions group. The final decision rests with the coach, "he said.

About the dispute between Canon of Yaounde and Fovu club of Baham, he suggests that "the Chamber of Conciliation and Arbitration has made a decision on the basis of the evidence before it and a debate.

A sports structure like the Court of Arbitration for Sport, has no political overtones ... Fovu was not sacrificed on the altar of sports for extra interest. Nothing is left on the pretext of what people will say," he suggests, while recognizing that the days ahead will be decisive in the epilogue of this case.
