The interpretation of the consequences of the cancellation of the electoral procedure of the Cameroon Football Association (FECAFOOT), on Thursday, is going in all directions.
Maître Philippe Memong, FECAFOOT lawyer, suggested that Tombi A Roko should organize the next elections. His reaction in relation to the hearing.
"The conciliation Chamber stated that the Statutes of FECAFOOT are contradicted to the law on sports, physical activity as well as the status of other regional leagues. The House did not rule on the consequences of the cancellation. This leads us to consider that Article 29 of the Electoral Code will be applied: the organs in place remain in place until an electoral process is resumed.
I am quite surprised though, because I think that a decision must have a reason. We have already spent two years trying to improve the situation in FECAFOOT; we start at exactly zero as if nothing had happened for three years. And I can say that it is unfortunate for our country. FECAFOOT and I took turns going to analyze this decision. We can decide to resume the electoral process effectively at zero, but we must know that this is the team in place that manages FECAFOOT until the process starts again."
