10 tons of chicken seized in Kye-Ossi

Kye-Ossi, a Cameroonian town in the southern border with Equatorial Guinea suffers, like all cities of the country near the borders, the smuggling of frozen chicken phenomenon.

For some days now, the third rank of Police Inspector Jean Pierre Minkande has got hold of a large stock of 10 tons of frozen chicken at the police checkpoint of the city of Ambam, department of the Ntem Valley.

La Nouvelle Expression newspaper reported on November 20, 2015, that in addition to poultry, a cargo carrying "about 800 gas cylinders and boxes of sardines, goods that allowed to conceal these chickens of dubious origin in the truck."

The police officer refused a bribe offer since the newspaper mentioned that Jean Pierre Minkande "was not deceived by the FCFA three million that would have been offered to him by the boss of that act contrary to Cameroonian law in force".

"According to credible sources, the police inspector was informed by traffickers’ officials who excel in this cutting activity of frozen chicken, angry against their colleagues who tore their regular customers. Alerted, the sub-prefect of the district and the Regional Delegate of the South National Security took to the field to see for themselves the facts. Under the eyes of the people equipped with the hosts, bags, baskets and other carraige items, those who expected their products were disturbed. The frozen chicken were subsequently thrown into the River Ntem," said the newspaper.
