President Paul Biya has through a decision made public yesterday okayed the proposed plan to restructure Cameroon’s ailing national carrier, Camair-co.
The approval Tuesday July 26 followed a support agreement signed between the government of Cameroon and America’s Boeing Consulting in March 2015.
By the agreement, Boeing Consulting was tasked to help finalize a turnaround plan for the carrier that in recent years has been mired in crisis.
By approving the proposal submitted to the head of state by Boeing Consulting last month, Camair-co is expected to purchase nine additional aircrafts that will bring the total fleet of the company to 14.
The recommendation by Boeing Consulting with regards to the acquisition of additional aircrafts go further than the provisions of the management of Camair-co, which had announced a need for only eleven aircrafts to set the company on the path to competitiveness.
