In the Far North region, the few existing service stations are now operating at full capacity, since the deployment of security forces along the Cameroonian border with Nigeria to counter the attacks of the Nigerian Islamic sect Boko Haram, the state-Daily.

The presence of the defense forces, which filter all entries in Cameroon, has undermined the import from Nigeria's adulterated fuel commonly called "Zoua Zoua" popular with motorists in the area of Far North because of its affordable price: 350 CFA francs a liter against 630 CFA francs for the super sold in service stations.

However, with the difficulties in sourcing imposed by the military's presence along the border with Nigeria, the importers of Zoua Zoua are facing difficulties and are forced to use other means there by increasing their charges, sources informed.

This new situation has led to a steep rise in the price of the liter of adulterated fuel, which in some localities of the region, now costs up to 850 francs CFA, we learnt.

Unfortunately, many motorists are obliged to submit to this because of the lack of service stations in several localities of the region of the Far North of Cameroon.
