The Cameroon Telecommunications (CAMTEL) has put in place plans to launch its GSM network in 2016.
The development came up during the second regular session of the Board of Directors for the year 2015 Wednesday, December 23, at the Hall of the headquarters building tips in Yaounde, under the effective conduct of Victor E Nfon. Mukete, its President.
It was mainly a question of the progress report on the waning year, the vote of the 2016 budget and an update on the operation of the fourth mobile license obtained in 2014.
According to the final communiqué, the Board congratulated and encouraged the Directorate General for the density and quality of results achieved in the implementation of the action plan of the year 2015.
As for the 2016 budget, it is balanced in revenue and expenditure at the sum of FCFA 241 120 000 000, distributed as follows: 165 990 000 000 for investment expenditure, or 69% in relative terms, and 75.13 billion for operating expenses.
Update on Licensing Mobile has also caught the attention of the Council. The directors are committed to making every effort so that the network is operating at CAMTEL before the end of January 2016, sources informed Cameroon-info.net.
Nonetheless, the company which has obtained the Cameroon government management and operation of urban optical loops in major cities of the country holds the fourth GSM license in Cameroon since the month of September 2014.
The Chinese equipment Huawei, with which CAMTEL is partnered for several years on the corded phone, has almost completed the construction of its GSM network across the country, sources from the company revealed.
