Cameroon, through the Director General of the Agency for Standards and Quality (Anor), Charles Booto à Ngon, recently received a certificate of recognition from the African Organization for Standardization (ORAN) for its excellent service to the organization.
This recognition resulted from the contribution and exceptional services that the country has so often rendered to ORAN.
In particular, an effective leadership provided by Cameroon to the Vice-Presidency of the Organization, without forgetting the role as effective focal point for the mobilisation of French-speaking countries in ORAN. It also includes the exceptional organisation and technical expertise of the General Assembly of ORAN and training meetings and the strengthening of the financial participation of Cameroon at ORAN.
To the Secretary-General of ORAN, Hermogene Nsengimana, Cameroon has made a laudable and exemplary service to the organization. It is only right that the country receives praise and honors.
The country contributed to the transformation of the Organization into a truly pan-African organization by offering opportunities for Standardization on the continent.
Another good point is that Cameroon fixed the interests and priorities of Africa's development taking into account that this period is a time of transformation, development, growth and job creation.
In the same vein, Cameroon also became aware of the importance of cooperation in the structuring of its standardization activities. Challenges involved the monitoring of cooperation with international organizations and the specialized committees in the field of standardization and quality which is one of its main missions.
Furthermore, Anor signed a dozen partnership agreements with several national standards bodies. They are virtually seen everywhere, even in the United States, Africa, Asia, and Europe.
In addition, Cameroon is today part of weight players in standardization at the regional and international level through Anor. In fact, the country is a member of several international organizations for standardization. For example, the International Organization for Standardization (ISO), Codex alimentarius, the International Electrotechnical Commission (CEI), Network of Standardization and Francophonie (RNF), among others.
