The increase in the price of acquiring a passport has received complaints from Cameroonians.
Decree No. 2013/002 of 4 January 2013 issued by the President of the Republic lays down conditions for the establishment of passports.
There shall be established three (03) types of passports: Ordinary passports (green), passport service (brown) and the diplomatic passport (red color).
The issuing of an ordinary passport gives rise to the payment of stamp set by the Finance Act right while the issue of diplomatic and service passports is free: an injustice in a country where citizens see their power of Purchase dwindle day by day.
The finance bill for the year 2016 anticipates an increase in stamp duty on the establishment of regular passport, but nothing is done to reduce the lifestyle bloated by government members to whom passports are issued free of charge: a sham!
Changes in the cost of ordinary passports in Cameroon:
Until December 31, 2003, the stamp duty was FCFA 30 000 for a 10-year validity. From January 1, 2004, and December 2015, the stamp duty amounts to 50,000 CFA francs for a validity 5 years.
