The problem of electric power failure is well established in Cameroon and the head of stated reiterated the issue in his speech on December.
For about 15 years, the availability, quality and cost of the electricity supplies were clearly indexed, "like a brake growth of our country," the Quotidien de l’Economie reported on Tuesday, January 5, 2016.
The finding was made by the general manager of Eneo at a conference of the IPAD, on December 1, where he made an estimate of 1 to 2%, the loss of growth points annually. Thus, there is an urgent need to reduce consumption of electrical energy.
In this context, Eneo intends to focus its priority on intelligent management of both supply and demand in the short term, the newspaper said.
A medium to long term, the strategy will focus on planning, taking into account the criterion of the lowest cost, and the execution time of projects selected in the sector development plan.
According to the DG, "the idea is to share this common good electricity between all the co-owners of the national community."
The first to suffer will be Alucam, their biggest customer, which will reduce its electricity consumption by 30%. Also, added to this, the reprogramming work with cutting and clearing demand for certain industries during peak hours.
"By better schedule their production cycle is to minimize consumption between 18h and 22h; a time at where households will be in need of electricity. They will contribute to the welfare of the entire Cameroonian society", explained the DG.
In 2016, Eneo wishes for a better use of water in dams to allow roughly 85,000 customers connected each year to finally be satisfied with the quality of services.
