The European Union (EU) has disbursed a sum of FCFA 45 billion on behalf of the Cameroonian government to help finance the National Agricultural Investment Plan (NAIP) set up within the Ministry of Agriculture.

The information was revealed on January 12, 2015, in Yaoundé by the Head of the EU Delegation in Cameroon, Françoise Collet, at the end of an audience with the Minister of Agriculture, Henri Eyebe Ayissi.

This fund represents only a part of the 131 billion FCFA that the EU is committed to unlocking the funding for NAIP as promised at the Business Meeting held on September 15, 2015, in Yaoundé by the Cameroonian government, to mobilize from donors a budget of 1.5 trillion FCFA required to finance this plan.

Remember, NAIP, which covers the period 2014-2020, requires funding to a total of FCFA 3.35 trillion.

The mobilization of funds at the conference organized on September 15 was simply to complete the envelope, most of the funding has already been obtained by the Cameroonian government.
