In mid-December 2015, activity at the container terminal of the port of Douala, Douala International Terminal operated by (DIT), experienced a 14% increase compared to 2014, with strong growth in containerized exports, the growth rate compared to last year reached 30%, we learned from a formal report.

This performance, the source said, is the result of the combined effects of reduced average time of passage of the containers for export (below the regulatory duty seven days), and the average processing times of container import. All of which have led to the reduction in the occupancy rate of the import-export terminal parks, 147% in December 2013 to 70% only in 2015, whereas, the report said, "the operating maritime repository is 85% ".

According to internal sources at DIT, these performances are put on the account of the investments made last year. "The good performance DIT in 2015 allows us to congratulate ourselves on the work of our teams, but more of the good cooperation of the authorities that accompanied the process of decongesting the port of Douala.

The credit goes to the shareholders who have invested in one year about FCFA 8 billion. This allows our container terminal to go beyond the initial 35 billion investment commitments (2005-2019) and generated 48 billion CFA francs, "says Hamadou Sali, the CAC DIT.
The latter also announced, on behalf of 2016, the completion of the expansion and modernization plan of the port of Douala platform and the acquisition of a third quay gantry, "whose production is launched in Shanghai by Chinese ZPMC multinational. "
