The Chamber of Agriculture, Fisheries, and Forestry of Cameroon (Capef) is set to organize the International Exhibition of Agricultural Machinery of Cameroon (Simac 2015).

Under the coordination of Ms Elisar Volbert Mbang Ekoutou the preparations are well underway for an event to be held for the first time in Cameroon.

As an advisory and representative of the interests of professionals in agriculture, fisheries, livestock, forestry, and wildlife, with public authorities, she has been assigned to the organize fairs, exhibitions, and other promotional activities in the areas under her jurisdiction.

For five days (from January 15 to 20, 2015), the Simac will gather several categories of people and businesses. These are those from the agriculture, fisheries, livestock, and forestry, agro-industrialists, inventors and other creative innovators in production techniques, processing and conservation of agro-pastoral products.

Moreover, there will be the participation of development partners and NGOs, financial institutions, public authorities, training institutes and the general public.

Under the preparation of the event, four subcommittees were set up, including the one in charge of the protocol, accommodation, catering, health and safety; that of communication, entertainment, and public relations; the finance, marketing and sales of the salon products; and finally the logistics subcommittee and equipment.

The event will be chaired by the heads of parastatal and public administrations, under the Ministries of External Relations, Communication, Finance and the Congress Centre will host the show.

Second Generation Agriculture

Regarding specialized pavilions, they are five in number: the Administration Building and International Cooperation, Pavilion of agricultural machinery, irrigation and innovation, those trades, food and flavours, and finally, the pavilion finance and banking of rural projects. All these pavilions will be coordinated by the elected members of the Capef.

As a reminder, the organization of the International Exhibition of Agricultural Machinery in Cameroon is being held by the government to put in order, the second generation of agriculture whose principle has been promoted by President Paul Biya, during the Comice agropastoral show held in Ebolowa (South Cameroon region) in January 2011.

Thus, the objective is to revive the economy by the agricultural potential of the country, through the promotion and support for sectors with high potential for productivity and competitiveness. Similarly, a focus should be on providing inputs and support for agricultural extension and advice.
