The first commercial boats will dock at the deepwater port of Kribi, built in the southern region of the country, in the second quarter of 2016 between the months of May and June, said the Cameroon government on Thursday.

According to the Ministry of Economy, Planning and Regional Planning (Minepat) that drives the project, "everything is made to the start of commercial operation of the port of Kribi."

This is a port complex comprising four terminals, among others, container terminals, ore, oil, and versatile.

At the same time, within the consortium of Bolloré-CMA CGM-CHEC, which was awarded the concession of the container terminal, authoritative sources stated that in April 2016, everything is going smoothly.

"We are working to be ready soon on April 1, 2016," said our source.

Meanwhile, negotiations are underway for mooring and towing activities that should soon lead to the signing of concession contracts.

Moreover, the government is refining the texts relating to the creation of the public company responsible for the management of the port platform, and the agency to which is responsible for the task of developing an industrial complex around the port of Kribi, under the model set up to the port of Tangier in Morocco.
