Minmidt reviews standards and quality

The Minister in charge of Mines has pointed out on Tuesday in Yaounde during a press briefing on the celebration of World Standards Day, scheduled for Wednesday.

As a prelude to the World Standards Day, celebrated on Wednesday, the new Minister of Mines, Industry and Technological Development (Minmidt), Ernest Ngwaboubou, held a news conference on Tuesday in Yaoundé.

The primary issue was to recall the importance of the theme for this 46th edition. In this case, "Standards: universal common language."

"It is a topical issue for the development of Cameroon," according to Minmidt.

Also in the same vein, he discussed the importance of economic partnership agreements signed by Cameroon, an indisputable bridge that saw the competitiveness of domestic industries through the production of goods and reliable services. That is why Cameroon should be aware of the importance of standards in trade, which according to Minmitd, in this context, should be the base.

It is no doubt a requirement, "so that our industries appropriate the national and international standards if they aspire to gain market share at the regional and international level." Ernest Ngwaboubou has also referred to the duties entrusted by his department in conjunction with the Agency for Standards and Quality (Anor).

It includes the development of a coherent strategy and relevant approach based on the existing. This also includes the densification of the portfolio of national standards, the promotion of standards from producers. "Actions that should focus on priority areas of wealth and development generators," concluded the Minmidt.
