PM welcomes delegation from World Bank

Prime Minister, Head of Government Philemon Yang met at the Star building with a delegation of the International Finance Corporation (IFC), an affiliate of the World Bank, led by Mrs. Vera Songwe, newly appointed regional director of the IFC (or IFC) to West and Central Africa.

This was after Philemon Yang attended the inauguration of the gynecology, obstetrics and pediatric hospital in this Douala, on behalf of the Head of State.

Ms. Songwe reiterated to the Head of the Cameroonian government commitment of the World Bank Group to support the energy sector in Cameroon. She also congratulated the government for facilitating funding, to date, two separate projects energy supply.

"IFC welcomes the intervention of the Cameroon government, which allowed the funding of these two projects, a major step to provide the country's needs for energy, a prerequisite for development," said the host of the Premier Minister.

In particular, she indicated that with the government's commitment to increase access to electricity, other projects in the sector are being studied, including the hydroelectric project and the extension of Nachtigal hydroelectric dam in Kribi, one of the first investments of this institution in the energy sector in Cameroon.

Ms. Songwe was accompanied by Mehita Sylla new representative-resident of the institution in Cameroon and Mr. Olivier Noël, which had hitherto been acting as the regional representation.
