Cameroon’s nominees for the international Festival of Arts and Culture in Cote d’Ivoire dubbed MASA, have staged a series of concerts in Douala and Yaoundé in preparation for the biannual festival.
The musicians staged what they say is a teaser of what Cameroon will exhibit in Abidjan during the grand event grouping over 800 artistes.
One after the other, the 11 selected musicians took turns to do what they know best, sing, dance and thrill the public while passing a message and valorising their culture.
The concerts in Yaounde and Douala dubbed “On the way to Masa” are intended to mobilise home support for Cameroon’s nominees to the biggest cultural exhibition on the continent.
They include; Krotal, Macase, Sanzy Viany, Armang Biyag, Teety Tezano, Danielle Eog, Love and live, Adango, Lady B and Grace, eleven big names who have proven to the Cameroonian public that they are on the road to MASA 2016 with a convincing and spectacular display of choreography and musical notes.
MASA 2016 will take place in Abidjan, Cote d’Ivoire from the March 5 to 12, 2016.
The series of concerts initiated by Tony Mefe, Cameroonian-born member of the jury of the festival is also a fundraiser to cover transport and other logistics for the cultural ambassadors.
Spectators at the show have strongly appreciated the initiative which is a grand premier in the country. It was an occasion to enjoy a blend of musical notes, choreography and rhythms from Africa in miniature.
