Richard Bona, who resides in the US, did not make the trip to Yaounde to solemnly receive his medal from the Grand Chancellor of National Orders.
As expected, the artiste stood by his grounds and turned down the invitation.
The internationally renowned bassist made it known through a humorous text published on his Facebook page on Monday, December 14, 2015.
Since last year, Richard Bona who is now American vowed not to ever step his feet in Cameroon again. This was because, the celebrity claimed that he was being asked for a visa each time he came to his country.
Something he thought was wrong. This urged him to declare on his Facebook page that he was never going to come to Cameroon again.
Yesterday, the Minister of Arts and Culture published a communique to honour him and Ben Decca. But many people doubted the presence of the celebrity which turned out right because he was not present. Below is what he wrote.
"PATRIOT IS BUILDING WITH CONVICTION COURAGE, PATIENCE AND WITHOUT FEAR
FOR OTHERS And ALWAYS FOR OTHERS … EVEN IF they are slow to UNDERSTAND THE SCOPE OF MESSAGE.. :-))
No law will remove this imprint (237) … NOT TODAY, NOT TOMORROW
I thank Mr Minister of Arts and Culture, Narcissus Mouelle Kombi and staff of this “official recognition” … And especially briefing of the work done in recent days. My contributions for Cameroon worldwide continue. This 2015 still 105 performances … Unfortunately I would not be with you tomorrow …: – ((
But as a kid, this was part of my dreams … “Being awarded?? home??” … I will not lie to myself I am sad… But also, in my “inner conviction,” I know I’m right by not going to the ceremony …
