The reconstruction of the Garoua hospital has been delayed for three years since the assurance by the head of state.

However, 3 years ago during a visit to the North Region, the Minister of Health had a discussion on the project with the then governor of the region, Otto Wilson Joseph about it.

The former governor was so quick to reassure the Korean delegation that "all measures would be taken in due course for the Korean staff to realize the project on time," says the daily Quotidien de l’Economie.

FCAF 42.493 billion was the amount decided to build the Garoua Referral Hospital. 68% funded by a loan by the Ezimbank of Korea and 32% through the Economic development funds of the Cameroon government. It included a two-storey building of general hospital type with a capacity of about 292 beds divided into surgical and medical specialties.

According to the Quotidien de l’Economie on Wednesday, January 6, 2016, the project construction and equipment of Garoua Referral Hospital aims to improve the service offering and healthcare of people in three northern regions which are Adamawa, North and Far North.

"This is with the objective of fostering the emergence of health facilities in major cities other than Yaoundé and Douala," the newspaper said. Despite all this time, this project is now plunged into the undergrowth, to the great despair of the people, who had yet clung to the promise of the Head of State.
