Kidnapping cases have hit the Adamawa region of Cameroon with the kidnappers demanding for ransoms before they release their hostages.
This situation might destroy the economy of this region, mainly based on livestock and agriculture.
Insecurity in the Adamawa region has reached a critical but not only alarming threshold. Rural areas are losing their populations who abandon their property to bandits. Our sources say they are armed and ruthless. Their modus operandi is simple.
They steal livestock of farmers at night. They remove either the father of the family or his children. They are demanding ransoms that often are around FCFA 50 million. They set the deadline and the place where you have to deposit the money.
Failure to do any of these instructions outlined leads to the dead of the hostages and without hesitation, they put their threats into execution.
