The Nylon neighborhood in Bafoussam has become the nerve center of Indian hemp (marijuana) smokers and has led the inhabitants to become passive consumers of cannabis against their will.
This revelation dates back to September 30, where a group of people had sought refuge in an abandoned house, during a heavy rain. These people were robbers who usually disturbed the peace of residents of Nylon 6th street.
Hours later, thick black smoke gushed from the house. This was because the men had set fire to car tires to keep themselves warm. And to kill two birds with one stone, they heaped a large quantity of the marijuana on the flames, in the middle of the night. Gradually, the narcotic smoke began to spread throughout the neighborhood; entering into every house.
"I was at home when suddenly, I smelt a strange odor which lasted for about 1 hour (1 October 2015) I asked my husband who was also awakened by the same odor, what it was, he told me that it was Indian hemp,” informed a local resident of Nylon.
Just like this couple, the whole neighborhood could no longer sleep due to these odors emanating from the smoke. But for fear of falling into the trap of these brigands, no one took the risk of setting foot outside.
The residents became calm upon the arrival of the police. The police who had earlier been informed of the situation raided the place but unfortunately, it was unsuccessful. The robbers had managed to escape.
At dawn on Thursday, October 1, 2015, the people of Nylon went clearing the bushy road which led to the abandoned house.
Sources informed us that the house had not only been turned into the venue for unscrupulous activities in the Bafoussam city but also a vantage point to scam their victims.
