Cameroon honours two Vigilante Committee members

Two Kolofata Vigilante committee members have been honoured by the president after they lost their lives on the battlefield on September 13, 2015.

Abba Gana and Dogo Golda saved the lives of many citizens from a carnage which was well-orchestrated by two terrorists of Boko Haram.

To honor the memory of these brave citizens who sacrificed their lives to protect others, posthumously, the president of the Republic awarded each of them a ‘Knight of the order of value’ medal.

This ritual ceremony took place on Saturday, October 3, 2015, at the esplanade of the Kolofata council. President Paul Biya was represented by Midjiyawa Bakari, the Governor of the Far North Region.

The spokesperson for the president of the Republic also gave comfort to the two families of the illustrious men with a sum of 1, 000, 000 FCFA per family. The money was also given to encourage the others members of the Vigilant Committee.

These supports were presented by Tchamaya Sarima and Chetima Seini Yerima, Chairmen of the Committee of vigilance and Kolofata Gouzoudou respectively.

Among the 20 wounded during the September 13 attack, three are still under treatment, but an amount of 150, 000 FCFA was also handed to each of them. This makes a total of 4, 450, 000 FCFA presented on behalf of the presidential couple.

The Governor promised the inhabitants that other rewards will follow for those who, in one way or another, will distinguish themselves positively in the war against Boko Haram.
