A three-storey building collapses Tuesday night injuring two people on Tuesday, October 27, 2015, at Ndogbati, in the district of Douala V.
No one died in the accident but two people were injured, a man, hit in the lower limb, and a young girl on the head. They are currently receiving treatment at the Laquintinie hospital.
The two victims are members of a family living in a house behind the building which was hit by the concrete rubble on its roof with some breaking into the house causing no extended harm to the other inhabitants.
According to witnesses living in the vicinity of the disaster site, on Tuesday around 9pm, a loud noise was heard in the neighborhood. "I went out and I saw that the building was tumbling down," says a young woman.
The owner of the building who surrendered to police on Thursday morning says instead that the proposed floor was not designed to support other apartments but simple water tanks.
Furthermore, he insists he does not understand what happened. "I took an engineer to assess the work," he says. Investigation by the police of the 7th district will reveal more.
