At about 08:40 am Wednesday November 11, 2015 a snake slipped into the clothes of a student in the auditorium 100 of the Faculty of Arts and Humanities (Falsh) of the University of Ngaoundere during lectures. Courses were interrupted.
According to various testimonies gathered from students and teachers of the faculty, the snake entered the pants of Dewa Aboubakar. Dewa Aboubakar said “I felt something frozen in my leg disturbing me”. When he jumped up, the snake crept into his pants, it emerged. There was panic and pandemonium in the room which contained almost 500 students reading the course lectured by Prof. Mbengué Nguimé Martin.
Despite the call from the teacher for calm, panic continued in the auditorium resulting to two students losing consciousness. They were later transported to the emergency health center of the university, according to testimony from their course mates.
Some teachers of the History Department are angry with the degree of laxity in the faculty as "Students sometimes use cinder blocks to sit during lessons. In addition, it seems that the door of the lecture hall does not close. Look at the grass around the auditorium, snakes can easily sneak in," complains a teacher of Falsh, University of Ngaoundere.
